LOS ANGELES (AP) ? Producer and director Gilbert Cates, who oversaw a record 14 Academy Awards ceremonies and founded the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, has died. He was 77.

Cates collapsed on the UCLA campus Monday evening. Emergency personnel responded but were unable to revive him, officials said Tuesday. The cause of death was not immediately known.

Cates last produced the Oscar telecast in 2008, when the ceremony was almost sidelined by the Writers Guild strike.

He was comfortable at the helm of the show, calling it "an absolutely great job." He produced more Academy Awards telecasts than anyone else and brought in comedians such as Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Rock, Jon Stewart and Steve Martin to host the show.

Martin tweeted his condolences Tuesdsay. "So sorry to hear Gil Cates has died," Martin wrote. "He helmed two Oscar shows I hosted. He was delightful, wise, canny and unperturbed. A great fellow."

Singer Josh Groban also shared his thoughts on Twitter, writing, "So sad to hear of the passing of legendary tv producer Gil Cates. He gave me many great opportunities and was always extremely kind. RIP."

Academy President Tom Sherak said Cates was a colleague, friend and a "consummate professional."

Cates "gave the academy and the world some of the most memorable moments in Oscar history," Sherak said in a statement. "His passing is a tremendous loss to the entertainment industry, and our thoughts go out to his family."

Cates founded the School of Theater, Film and Television at UCLA. He was its dean from 1990 to 1998 and remained on the faculty as a professor.

Teri Schwartz, dean of the School of Theater, Film and Television, cited Cates as a "beloved mentor, colleague and friend."

"Today we mourn our great loss but also celebrate Gil's extraordinary vision and countless contributions, not only to (the school) as founding dean and distinguished professor but to the entertainment and performing arts industries and the education of our students, who benefited from his remarkable talent, insights, generosity, experience and wisdom," she said in a statement.

Cates twice served as president of the Directors Guild of America and was on the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

He produced and directed films, television shows and plays on and off Broadway. His film credits include 1970's "I Never Sang for My Father" with Gene Hackman, and 1980's "Oh God! Book II" with George Burns.

He produced and directed plays at the Geffen Playhouse, where he was regarded as "our founder, our leader and our heart," according to a statement Tuesday.

"Gil has always referred to the staff of the Geffen Playhouse as his second family," said board chairman Frank Mancuso. "And it is as a family that we mourn this tremendous loss. Gil built this theater and he will forever be at the center of it - we honor his life by continuing the fulfillment of his dream. As my dear friend Gil would no doubt say, 'onward and upward with the arts.'"

Cates is survived by his wife, Dr. Judith Reichman, four children, two stepchildren and six grandchildren.

WASHINGTON (AP) ? The Treasury Department is seeking to borrow $305 billion in the current quarter through December and announced plans to borrow $541 billion in the first three months of next year. The first quarter amount would be the second highest borrowing on record.

The latest estimate of borrowing plans for the October-December quarter is $19 billion higher than an estimate Treasury made three months ago. Treasury officials said lower-than-expected government tax receipts increased the borrowing estimate.

The projection that the government will borrow $541 billion in the January-March quarter would rank second below the all-time high borrowing of $569 billion in the October-December quarter of 2008. That borrowing occurred when the government was spending massive amounts to battle the financial crisis.

PHOENIX ? An Arizona jury on Monday found a former construction worker guilty of killing nine people in the so-called Baseline Killer case that terrorized the Phoenix area during the summer of 2006.

Mark Goudeau was accused of attacking his victims as they went about daily activities, such as leaving work or washing their car. He left most of them with their pants unzipped and partially pulled down. The victims ? eight of them women ? ranged from 19 to 39 years old

Prosecutors had called the 47-year-old Goudeau a "ravenous wolf" driven by a hunger to rape women and kill those who didn't cooperate with his demands. Defense attorneys insisted that there are likelier suspects than Goudeau and questioned DNA tests linking Goudeau to the crimes.

In all, Goudeau faced 72 counts, including the nine murders and various counts of kidnapping, sexual assault and robbery. He was found guilty of all but four counts, and the jury failed to reach a verdict on one charge.

"Hopefully there's going to be some closure in my mind now," said Alvin Hogue, 53, whose wife was killed with another woman as they cooked food inside a lunch truck in Phoenix. His wife left behind Hogue and six children altogether, including their then 4-month-old twin boys.

"They'll never know their mother," said Hogue, who attended the reading of the verdict along with dozens of other victims' family members. "I've been waiting a long time for this ... It's pretty clear he's the one who did it."

Goudeau, dressed in a suit, kept his head down as the verdicts were read and shook it from side to side periodically. The verdicts in the four-month trial mean he's now eligible for the death penalty. The sentencing phase begins Wednesday.

Although Goudeau already was serving a 438-year prison sentence in a sexual assault case connected to the Baseline Killer crimes for raping a woman while pointing a gun at her sister's belly, prosecutors pursued the nine murder charges in a separate trial to get him the death sentence.

The killings started in August 2005 and ended with the murder of Carmen Miranda, in what police described as a "blitz attack," on June 29, 2006. The mother of two was vacuuming her car and talking on her cellphone at a car wash when she was kidnapped and shot in the head. Her body was shoved in the back seat of her car, her legs over her head and her pants partially down.

The other eight people who were killed also were attacked at random. For example, Tina Washington, a 39-year-old preschool teacher, had been waiting at a bus stop after a Christmas party when she was killed. She was found shot to death in an alley on Dec. 12, 2005.

In opening statements in June, prosecutor Suzanne Cohen showed jurors graphic images of the victims as their family members looked on, weeping and consoling one another. All the victims were shot in the head and were shown lying in pools of blood.

Some people observing the trial had to leave the courtroom as certain pictures were shown. One depicted a 37-year-old woman whose 8-year-old son found her body at home in a tub of water.

Cohen said the boy turned off the water and unsuccessfully tried to pull her out of the tub before trying to perform CPR on her lifeless body.

Prosecutors told jurors that DNA, ballistics and other evidence tied Goudeau to the crimes. Inside his home police found victims' blood and a ring belonging to Washington. The ring had three birth stones and the phrase "we love mom" inscribed on the side.

Meanwhile, Goudeau's attorney, Randall Craig, told jurors that there was a serious lack of DNA evidence in the case, and he questioned the integrity of the investigation.

"The Phoenix Police Department suffered from a severe case of tunnel vision," he said during the trial. "The key result of all this was they apprehended the wrong guy."

Craig told reporters on Monday that he and Goudeau were obviously disappointed in the jurors' decision.

"It's just a shock," he said. "This is something that's going to take time to get used to ... Obviously I don't agree with the verdict, but I respect it."

Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery said in a statement that "a terrible scourge on our community has now been held accountable for his crimes."

"It is now the charge of the criminal justice system to see that the sentences for death are carried out as expeditiously as possible," he said.

In 2007, Goudeau was sentenced to 438 years in prison in a 2005 attack linked to the Baseline Killer case in which he raped a woman while pointing a gun at her pregnant sister's belly. When the judge in that trial handed down Goudeau's sentence, he said that Goudeau must have two "diametrically opposed" personalities ? one calm and respectful in court, and the other sociopathic and brutal.

Goudeau also had been imprisoned for 13 years after being convicted of beating a woman's head against a barbell. The Arizona Board of Executive Clemency paroled him eight years early in 2004.

Goudeau previously acknowledged being a recovering drug addict and once blamed his history of violence on a weakness for crack cocaine.

Police named the series of killings and other crimes after Baseline Road in south Phoenix where many of the earliest attacks happened. Goudeau lived only a few miles from many of the attack sites.

Goudeau was the last of three suspects to go on trial for a rash of killings and attacks that terrorized the Phoenix area for more than a year.

Dale Hausner and Samuel Dieteman were arrested in the so-called Serial Shooter case in August 2006. Hausner was convicted in March 2009 of killing six people and attacking 19 others in dozens of random nighttime shootings and was given six death sentences. Dieteman testified against Hausner and was sentenced to life in prison.

The two serial killer cases had Phoenix-area residents on edge at the height of both sprees in the summer of 2006. Women felt particularly vulnerable because the Baseline Killer targeted women, while the Serial Shooter case made most everyone nervous because the attacks happened at random and targeted pedestrians and bicyclists at night.

Some even changed their daily routines, avoiding being out late or keeping away from busy streets to avoid notice.

Philip Rivers stood on the sideline watching the Chiefs? final drive Monday night, just starting to fully realize that this was a game, a mistake he would never forget.

?Worst day ever,? Rivers mouthed to no one in particular.

That was before Rivers watched Chiefs kicker Ryan Succop split the uprights in overtime to complete a wild 23-20 overtime victory that changed the entire complexion of the AFC West.

Just minutes before Rivers said those words, it looked like he would be celebrating a terrific fourth quarter comeback. San Diego, led by running back Curtis Brinkley of all people, was in position to run the clock out before attempting a short field goal to win the game. ?And then Rivers fumbled a snap with under a minute remaining.

This was the Miracle at Arrowhead. ?(Seriously, we need a nickname for this play. We?re rolling with ?The Phumble? for now. Leave your ideas in the comments.)

Unlike Joe Pisarcik back in 1978, Rivers got a chance to make amends with a possession in overtime. ?The Chargers won the coin toss, but Tamba Hali sacked Rivers to help force a three and out.

Hali had an incredible night. He recorded two sacks and helped to force Chargers left tackle Marcus McNeill into at least six penalties. ?For so much of the night, this game was about the Chiefs young core of defensive stars (Hali, cornerback Brandon Flowers, and linebacker Derrick Johnson) making more plays than the San Diego offense.

All we?ll remember years from now is Rivers? fumble. ?It was his third turnover on a night where Rivers overcome serious accuracy woes. Despite the problems, Rivers made a number of critical throws in the fourth quarter, often on the move, to put his team in position to win.

It looked like it would be a season-defining win for the Chargers. They weren?t crisp on offense, but they were on their way to ?winning ugly? again. They had a chance to bury the Chiefs in the standings. (A two game lead with the tiebreaker.)

Instead, the Chargers? season is just starting to look ugly.

San Diego is 4-3, in a three-way tie atop the division, and have to host the Packers Sunday in San Diego. ?The Chiefs, meanwhile, have won four straight and get to host the Dolphins and Broncos the next two weeks.

This doesn?t look like one of Norv Turner?s better Chargers teams. ?The defense is ordinary, and Rivers doesn?t seem right.

It would be easy to ignore all that if Rivers hadn?t Phumbled. ?But he did, and it?s a play no one in the AFC West is going to forget all season. ?Especially Rivers.

This thread is about the elemental abilities of the people from each Kingdom. Each of the kingdoms qualify for a different element (shown in the intro), and there are many different kinds of things that the characters can do with their element abilities.

Here are the elements of each of the kingdoms:

The Kingdom of Kish: Earth
The Kingdom of Oran: Fire
The Kingdom of Noria: Water
The Kingdom of Era: Air
The Kingdom of Kera: Shadows/Darkness
The Kingdom of Ori: Time
The Kingdom of Min: Soul

Now, with each of these elements, the people of the kingdoms can control and bend their elements, but they can also do many other different things. Here is a list to get the idea of what your character will be able to do.

The Kingdom of Kish
Skipping, since I'm the only one who plays a character from here

The Kingdom of Oran
The people of the Kingdom of Oran can control and bend fire, even make it appear out of nothing. There's not that much to say with what you can do with this, since it's easy to come up with things to do with fire. You can make animals out of fire and control them, blow fire out of your mouth, make yourself light up on fire, and much of other stuff.

The Kingdom of Noria
This is kind of like Oran, but it's just the opposite. Of course, the people of Noria can control and bend water, but they can also do a little more than just that. Since ice is made out of water, they can control ice, and freeze the water they control in many different forms. Another strange thing that they can do, is control people's movements by controlling their blood, since blood has water in it. But that is very, very, hard, and most people don't know how to do it.

The Kingdom of Era
The people in the kingdom of Era can (similar to Noria and Oran) control and bend Air. They can drift on it, and even make themselves float into the air. They can also do stuff like make blades with gusts of air. (put a Norian and an Eran together and you get a hurricane =D Lol joking)

The Kingdom of Kera
The element of this kingdom is quite different than the other elements. Yeah, the people of this kingdom can control and bend it, but they usually don't do just that. They usually do things such as go into shadows so they can move around from shadow to shadow, and do stuff like go into the shadow of someone else, and then jump out behind them out of their shadow. They can also make things come out of the shadows, and they can also make shadows strangle people. It's a strange, but powerful element to control.

The Kingdom of Ori
The people from this kingdom can't really control and bend time. If they do, it's only for a couple of seconds since this element is hard to control. They can't stop time for a long time or go back in time, but instead they can only stop time for about 10 seconds, but they can't kill anyone in the ten seconds, but they can seriously injure and such. Besides that, the people of this kingdom can make others see illusions, and this ability is only dangerous because it can kill someone by making them fall into the clutches of insanity. This element is kind of confusing, so if you want to know more about it, just ask me about it ^^

The Kingdom of Min
Now, the last kingdom, Min, can control the element soul. No, this does not mean they can extract the soul of others, randomly killing them all of a sudden -.- But instead, they can do things such as switch their soul into the body of someone else, taking control over the body while the original soul is useless in their own body and able to do nothing. However, when they do this, the body of the one who transferred there soul goes limp, and is vulnerable. Another thing about it is that if the body they are currently taking over is hurt, the original body of themselves are hurt too. They can't do this forever though, and it will only last for a couple of minutes. Other things that the people of this kingdom can do is things such as take energy from others if they can be able to touch their forehead.

According to a report from The?Guardian, Apple engineers have started contacting vocal iPhone 4S owners that have been complaining about the rapidly draining iPhone 4S battery. During the initial iPhone 4S presentation earlier this month, Apple mentioned that standby time for the iPhone 4S battery was rated at about 200 hours or a bit over eight days. This is a large drop from the 300 hour standby time of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS, likely due to the upgrades to the internal hardware within the iPhone 4S. One iPhone 4S user reported that standby mode was eating up approximately ten percent of the battery power each hour and eventually draining the battery by the end of the workday.

Specifically, the ?Setting Time Zone? function within iOS 5 that corrects the Time Zone as a user travels to different areas of the world is constantly attempting to check the current Time Zone. iPhone 4S owners who identified this problem see the purple, location arrow icon beside the toggle setting within the menu. This means that the Time Zone has been checked within the last 24 hours. Users that have turned off the Time Zone feature, as well as many other location functions of the phone, have reported vastly improved battery life on the iPhone 4S as well as other iPhones that have upgraded to iOS 5.

The ?Setting Time Zone? function can be located within Settings, moving into ?Location Services?, scrolling down to ?System Services? and sliding the toggle on ?Setting Time Zone?. Apple engineers will likely adjust settings within the next iOS 5 update to modify how often location-based apps are?automatically?updated to allow for greater battery life for all iPhone 4S users.
